Elizabeth E. Baer is a 1989 graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.  She then continued her education at The University of Toledo, College of Law, earning honors.  Elizabeth was declared “Best Oralist” at the finals of the Law School’s Fornoff Appellate Advocacy Competition.  She graduated with her Juris Doctorate Degree in 1994. 

Since that time, Elizabeth has been engaged in the practice of law.  Her legal arenas have focused on medical malpractice, health care law and insurance defense matters. Additionally, she is well know and respected for her trial skills.  Ms. Baer has represented physicians of various specialties, nurses, hospitals and nursing homes in professional liability cases. She has successfully defended health care professionals in cases ranging from minor injury to severe, permanent injury and death. Her medical defense litigation experience involves claims ranging from, amongst others, birth trauma, stroke, cardiopulmonary arrest, delayed cancer diagnosis, and surgical complications. Recently, her practice has expanded beyond medical matters into other areas of litigation. Additionally, Ms. Baer has written and argued extensively in the court of appeals in various districts and in the Ohio Supreme Court.

Ms. Baer has, and continues, to speak in front of numerous professional organizations on a variety of liability issues, and she has taught various courses for paralegal programs. She was named as a member of Best Lawyers in America in 2008. Ms. Baer is actively involved in the Toledo Bar Association and is a member of the Lawyers and Doctors Committee.
